What conditions can be treated with ProFractional?

ProFractional can be used to improve a wide variety of skin conditions, but is used most for:

  • Wrinkles and fine lines
  • Post-traumatic scars
  • Acne scars
  • Age spots
  • Sun spots
  • Freckles
  • Aging and sun-damaged skin

How does the ProFractional laser work?

ProFractional uses laser energy to create thousands of microscopic channels in the skin which are surrounded by areas of healthy, untreated skin. The zones of untreated skin invigorate the body’s natural healing process, and the treated areas stimulate production of new collagen, plumping up the skin and smoothing out wrinkles, lines, scars and other irregularities.

Who should consider a ProFractional treatment?

If you are looking for younger looking skin, or to improve scars, wrinkles, or sun damage in a comfortable treatment with a fast recovery, then you may be an ideal candidate for ProFractional. Ask your physician if ProFractional is right for you.

What areas can be treated?

Most skin areas can be treated. Popular areas are the face, neck, chest and hands. You should discuss your needs with your physician.

What is a ProFractional procedure like?

ProFractional is a fast, comfortable procedure done in your physician’s office. The procedure normally takes 15 – 30 minutes depending on the condition and the size of the area treated. A numbing cream may be applied in advance to aid in comfort during the procedure.

How many ProFractional treatments will I need?

ProFractional is typically done in a series of 1 – 4 treatments, spaced 3 – 6 weeks apart, depending on your needs. Your physician will personalize a treatment plan based on the level of improvement you desire. Your physician may also combine ProFractional with a MicroLaserPeel or other popular aesthetic procedures to further enhance your treatment results.

What should I expect after treatment?

Immediately following the procedure you may experience a mild redness, resembling a light sunburn sensation. Complete healing takes only about 1 – 3 days and most patients can get back to work and apply makeup within 1 – 2 days after the treatment.

What special after-treatment care will I need?

It is important to follow your physician’s instructions which may include some skin care products and instructions on how to use them. Your skin will be more sensitive to ultra-violet light after the procedure, so you must avoid direct sun exposure until fully healed. You should always use some level of sun protection to avoid sun damage and premature aging of your skin.

Phototherapy – BBL™ Broadband Light

What is BBL broadband light?

BBL broadband light is an innovative technology that sets new standards for the treatment of skin conditions associated with aging, active life-styles and sun damage. BBL broadband light energy allows your physician to precisely treat age and sun spots, small facial veins and several other types of skin blemishes. Your treatment will be tailored to match your skin’s condition and your desired results.

What will BBL treatments do?

BBL broadband light technology utilizes the power of pulsed light to deliver excellent phototherapy results. By selecting the appropriate wavelength or filter, your physician will be able to treat a broad range of skin conditions caused by skin aging and sun exposure. Your skin will be smoother, more vibrant and it will have a more youthful appearance as a result.

What conditions can be treated with BBL?

Pigmented Lesions

  • Age Spots
  • Solar Lentigines (Freckles)
  • Burn Erythema
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Vascular Lesions
  • Small Facial Veins (Telangiectasia)
  • Rosacea
  • Port Wine Stains
  • Red Spots (Hemangiomas)
  • Redness and Flushing
  • Poikiloderma

How does BBL work?

The light energy delivered by the BBL will gently heat the upper layers of your skin. The heat absorbed by the targeted areas will stimulate your skin cells to generate new collagen. This will help restore your skin to its natural beauty, blending its natural colors and making it smoother, vibrant and younger looking. In addition the photothermal energy will target and eliminate many of the fine vessels that cause redness and the unwanted melanin responsible for pigmented lesions.

What areas can be treated?

Any area of your body can be treated. The most common areas are those most exposed to the damaging effects of sun light. The most popular treatments are for the face, neck, back of the hands, chest and shoulders.

How many treatments will I need?

From 2 to 5 treatments at 2 to 4 week intervals will produce the desired results. You may benefit from additional treatments depending on the severity of your condition.

How long will it take to recover?

This is a noninvasive and gentle procedure with virtually no downtime. In most cases you will be able to return to work, apply makeup, and resume most of your activities right away.

What should I expect after the treatment?

You may experience some redness that should resolve within a few hours. For some pigmented lesions you will see a darkening of the treated areas followed by fading and flaking off at a later stage. Your treated skin will feel smoother, fine lines and pores will be less noticeable, and sunspots or uneven pigmentation will fade. Results depend on your condition, the number of treatments, and the area treated. Your physician will provide you with complete information about the post treatment care and results.

Laser Skin Peel

The PROFILE™ CONTOUR™ laser brings a new approach to skin peels.

What is CONTOUR?

The CONTOUR system’s combination of two lasers sets a new standard for laser skin peels, allowing your physician to precisely vary the depth and the effect of your laser treatment. Your peel will be tailored to match your skin condition and desired result.

  • Wrinkles
  • Epidermal Nevi
  • Acne Scars
  • Solar lentigines

And pigmented lesions will greatly improve.

What areas can be treated?

Most skin areas can be treated. Popular areas are the face, neck, chest and hands. Discuss your needs with your physician.

How long will it take to recover?

Your healing time will depend upon your actual treatment depth. You may experience erythema (redness) which may last several weeks. Healing time does vary among individuals. Your physician can answer questions about the temporary changes to your skin color and how they may be camouflaged.

What should I expect after treatment?

It will take a few days to replace the outer layer of your skin. Redness is common and swelling may be present in the areas treated, however this should subside in a few hours. Your physician will instruct you how best to care for your healing skin. Your skin will have a residual pink or red color that will resolve over time.

Will it be uncomfortable?

The amount of discomfort varies from patient to patient. Your physician will discuss your anesthesia options to properly manage any discomfort from the treatment.

Is there a risk?

Following the correct aftercare procedures prescribed by your physician will reduce the risk of infection. You will return to your physician for follow-up visits to ensure excellent healing.

What will happen during the procedure?

Your physician will administer anesthesia after discussing the options with you. Your eyes will be protected with safety shields or glasses. CONTOUR laser beam will be delivered through a computer controlled device that automatically scans the area of your skin being treated. You may hear a snapping or popping noise as the laser beam gently removes the outer skin cells. Your procedure may take a few minutes to half an hour, depending on the size of the area to be treated and the depth of your peel.

What aftercare will I need?

It is important to follow your physician’s instructions. You will be given some skin care products and instructions on how to use them. This will minimize your risk of infection and ensure the shortest healing time. The top layer of your skin will re-grow and can be covered with makeup in about one week. Your new skin will be very sensitive to ultra-violet light and you must avoid sun exposure until fully healed. You need to cover your skin, wear a hat, and use a good sunscreen if you go outdoors.

What is the ClearScan vascular laser?

ClearScan is a new laser using infrared energy and a new standard for the treatment of many skin conditions.

ClearScan allows your physician to precisely treat visible vessels, broken capillaries, spider veins, vascular lesions and discoloration of your skin. Your treatment will be tailored to match your skin condition and desired result.

What conditions can be treated?

  • Rosacea
  • Redness
  • Facial Veins
  • Telangiectasia
  • Spider Veins
  • Broken Capillaries

What will the ClearScan laser do?

Your physician will use ClearScan to restore your skin’s youthful color. Broken capillaries and other visible vascular structures will be gently eliminated from the visible layers of your skin’s surface. ClearScan has the ability to provide a treatment that is optimized to your skin condition. Unwanted vessels will be preferentially heated by the laser’s energy and become less noticeable.

What areas can be treated?

All skin areas can be treated. Popular areas are the face, neck, chest and legs. Discuss your needs with your physician.

Is there a risk?

There is little risk in the treatment of benign conditions. In some cases repeat treatment will be necessary depending on your response to the treatment and the result desired. Your doctor will discuss potential risks of your specific condition prior to treatment.

How long will it take to recover?

Your healing time will depend upon your actual treatment. There is virtually no downtime and you may resume moderate activity immediately. You may experience erythema (redness) which may last several days. Your physician can answer questions about temporary changes to your skin color and how they may be camouflaged.

What should I expect after treatment?

Your skin will have a pink or red color that will resolve over time. You will need to avoid direct sun exposure, or use a sun block of at least SPF 15 when outdoors.

Will it be uncomfortable?

There should be little to no discomfort, however this varies from patient to patient and depends on the depth of the treatment. There is no need for anesthesia and your physician will discuss your options to properly manage any discomfort from the treatment. There should be no lasting post treatment discomfort.

What will happen during the procedure?

Your eyes will be protected with safety shields or glasses. ClearScan laser beam will be delivered to the area of your skin being treated. You may briefly feel a warm or hot sensation as the laser pulses are preferentially absorbed in the unwanted vessels, heating and destroying them. Your procedure may take a few minutes to half an hour depending on the size of the area to be treated.

What aftercare will I need?

It is important to follow your physician’s instructions. You may be given some skin care products and instructions on how to use them. This will minimize your risk of inflammation or redness and ensure the shortest response time. Any vessels denatured by the laser will be reabsorbed by your body over a period of time in a natural cleansing process. Most small capillaries will become invisible almost immediately since they will no longer contain blood flow. Your skin will be sensitive to ultraviolet light, and you must avoid direct sun exposure. Many of the conditions treated by the laser will have been cause by sun exposure, so avoiding the sun will prolong your new youthful appearance. You need to fully cover your skin or use a good sunscreen whenever you go outdoors.
